What to expect: The TRX workout was originally designed by a Navy Seal who had limited space and only his body weight for workouts. Today, this fitness craze is done with specially designed straps bolted to the ceiling. A 10 minute warm up opens the class with some stretching then it's on to gravity resistance exercises that work your entire body. Between sets of biceps, triceps, crunches, plank pose, pelvic thrusts and glute work, you are given 10 - 20 seconds to relax. The workout is a mix of cardio, interval and strength training.
Our Take: The intimate setting (never more than 10 people) enables group support and camaraderie in the room. Jim's class is focused on the foundation of the work and seeped in proper alignment, which is key for a long-term workout. Modifications are given so if you need to adjust you can. Once the Jane's Addiction, Lincoln Park and Jay-Z jams are turned up, it can feel like a boys club in this room of all women which is just what these hard core gym bunnies are looking for.
